Senior Building Physics Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and delivery of building physics assessments, energy modeling, and performance analysis for a variety of projects.
Provide expertise on building energy efficiency, including compliance with Part L and Part O of the Building Regulations, ensuring buildings meet or exceed the required energy performance standards.
Perform dynamic simulation and thermal comfort analysis using IES software, applying advanced modeling techniques to predict energy consumption, daylighting, and thermal performance.
Conduct operational energy performance analysis and advise on energy-saving measures following TM54 guidelines to ensure post-occupancy energy performance is optimized.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (architects, mechanical engineers, etc.) to provide technical advice on building design strategies that minimize energy use and reduce carbon footprint.
Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation for building performance assessments, regulatory compliance, and energy certifications.
Ensure compliance with sustainability standards, such as BREEAM, LEED, or WELL, as applicable to projects.
Lead client meetings and presentations, providing technical guidance and recommendations on energy efficiency and building performance.
Mentor and support junior engineers, providing training and development opportunities to strengthen the team's capabilities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Degree: A relevant degree in Building Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in building physics, energy modeling, and sustainability.
Software Expertise: Proficiency in IES software (particularly IESVE), dynamic simulation tools, and energy modeling platforms.
Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of UK building regulations, particularly Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power) and Part O (Overheating), and the ability to apply these in practical scenarios.
TM54 Expertise: Familiarity with the TM54 operational energy performance methodology and post-occupancy evaluations.
Energy Performance Standards: Strong understanding of energy efficiency strategies, including low-carbon technologies, renewable energy integration, and energy-saving solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
Sustainability Focus: Experience in applying sustainable design principles, including BREEAM, LEED, or similar sustainability frameworks.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex building performance issues and provide practical, cost-effective solutions.
