Description

Job Title: Senior Acoustics Consultant
Location: Manchester
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead environmental noise assessments, including baseline measurements, impact evaluations, and mitigation strategies for planning and permitting.
* Deliver building acoustics design solutions, including façade, internal partition, and room acoustic design, in line with relevant UK standards and client requirements.
* Plan and conduct sound insulation testing in accordance with BS EN ISO 140 and Part E, ensuring UKAS-compliant procedures and documentation.
* Perform detailed acoustic modelling and simulation using industry-standard software to support design development and option appraisal.
* Prepare clear, technically robust acoustic reports, including BS 4142 assessments, for submission to clients, planners, and regulatory bodies.
* Provide technical leadership to project teams, overseeing methodologies, quality control, and adherence to UK noise regulations and guidance.
* Mentor and support junior team members, providing on-the-job training in measurement techniques, modelling, and report writing.
* Liaise with clients, design teams, and stakeholders to present findings, explain risks, and agree practical acoustic solutions.

Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in a senior or lead Acoustic Consultant role within environmental and/or building acoustics.
* Strong track record in environmental noise assessment, including BS 4142 and relevant UK planning and regulatory frameworks.
* Demonstrable expertise in building acoustics design, including sound insulation, room acoustics, and façade performance.
* Proficiency with acoustic measurement equipment and associated software for environmental and building acoustics testing.
* Advanced capability in acoustic modelling and simulation using recognised industry tools.
* Excellent technical report writing skills, able to produce concise, well-structured documents for technical and non-technical audiences.
* Experience leading projects, managing technical delivery, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven ability to mentor and develop junior staff within a consultancy environment.
