Job Title: Principal Sustainability Engineer
Location: Cambridge
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage sustainability projects from conception to completion.
- Develop and implement sustainable design strategies in line with Part L and Part O regulations.
- Conduct energy modeling and simulations using IES VE software.
- Perform detailed assessments of heat loss and heat gain in building designs.
- Ensure compliance with TM52 & TM59, and TM54 standards for thermal comfort and building performance.
- Oversee BREEAM assessments and provide guidance on achieving certification.
- Conduct SAP and SBEM/BRUKL calculations for residential and commercial projects.
- Advise on Passivhaus design principles and facilitate project certification.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in sustainability engineering within the UK.
- Proficiency in using Part L / O, IES, and other relevant sustainability tools.
- Extensive knowledge of building physics, heat loss/gain calculations, and energy modeling.
- Experience with BREEAM, SAP, SBEM/BRUKL, and Passivhaus standards.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of Sketch-up, Revit, AutoCAD.
