Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join a well-respected consultancy based in Central London with huge plans for 2025! The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are successfully delivered on time and within budget. As the practice expands, this position will take on the responsibility of leading a team of engineers and designers to drive project success.
Key Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and codes (e.g., European, British).
- Expertise in preparing Structural Scheme Designs and associated Design Calculations.
- Capable of preparing Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Material Quantities, Scopes of Work, Technical Reports, and overseeing inter-disciplinary design coordination and supervision.
- Ability to collaborate with Designers for the production of CAD drawings, typically using Revit or AutoCAD.
- Lead and oversee Structural Design while coordinating with other disciplines to address their design needs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members.
- Expertise in the analysis and design of foundations and geotechnical structures.
- Proficient in using engineering software like Statica, Axis VM FEM Modelling, and Tekla Tedds for structural design.
- Assist in the development of a lessons learned database for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a positive and proactive attitude within the team and during the design process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the delivery of projects, taking a leadership role within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring projects align with client objectives and meet deadlines and budgets.
- Ensure all work complies with technical standards and is completed within agreed timeframes and financial parameters.
- Oversee project delivery tasks, including calculations, drawings, sketches, and reports.
- Offer technical support and mentorship to team members, providing training and guidance where necessary.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues from other disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.

Ideal Candidate:
- A Minimum MEng (Hons) degree in Structural Engineering.
- At least 8 years post-qualification experience in a fast-paced structural engineering practice.
- IStructE Chartered status.
- Previous experience leading project teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- A client-focused approach, with the ability to foster strong client relationships.
- Skilled in managing pressure and leading teams to meet project deadlines.
- A strong communicator and problem-solver, with commercial awareness.
- Able to work effectively with design and construction teams.
