An Exciting Leadership Opportunity with a Growing Engineering Consultancy
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Electrical Engineer to join the expanding Manchester office of an ambitious and highly regarded building services engineering consultancy.
This is more than simply another Associate-level position. It is an opportunity to join a growing business at an exciting stage of its development, with the autonomy, influence and support to make a genuine impact.
With an established client base, a strong pipeline of projects and ambitious plans for its Manchester operation, the consultancy is looking for an individual who can combine technical excellence with commercial awareness, client relationship management and a genuine desire to help develop a successful engineering team.
For an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer ready to take the next step, or an established Associate seeking greater influence and responsibility, this represents an excellent long-term career opportunity.
The Associate Electrical Engineer Opportunity
Our client is a progressive, multidisciplinary building services consultancy with a reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors.
Projects range from traditional building services schemes to larger, technically demanding and complex developments, ensuring an excellent variety of engineering challenges.
As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the continued development of the Manchester office, taking responsibility for the technical and commercial delivery of projects while helping to grow the electrical engineering capability.
You will have the opportunity to influence how the team develops, strengthen existing client relationships, identify new opportunities and contribute directly to the future success of the business.
Importantly, this is an environment where decisions can be made quickly, individual contributions are recognised and ambitious engineers have the opportunity to progress as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Take a leading role in the technical and commercial delivery of electrical building services projects, from initial concept through to completion.
- Oversee a varied portfolio of projects, including larger and technically complex schemes.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, developing and maintaining strong, long-term relationships.
- Provide technical leadership across electrical engineering design, ensuring quality, innovation and compliance with relevant standards.
- Manage project resources, programmes, budgets and deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Lead, mentor and develop engineers, supporting the growth and technical capability of the Manchester team.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical engineers, architects, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Support business development activities, including identifying opportunities, preparing fee proposals and securing repeat business.
- Contribute to the strategic growth of the Manchester office and the wider consultancy.
- Help shape the future direction of the electrical engineering team, promoting technical excellence and a positive, collaborative working environment.
About You
We are interested in speaking with established Associate Electrical Engineers or ambitious Principal Electrical Engineers who are ready to take on greater leadership and commercial responsibility.
Ideally, you will have:
- Extensive experience in electrical building services design gained within an engineering consultancy.
- A strong technical background with experience delivering projects across multiple sectors.
- Proven experience leading projects, managing design teams and overseeing technical delivery.
- Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to build relationships and develop repeat business.
- Commercial awareness, including experience managing project fees, resources and programmes.
- The confidence to provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced engineers.
- A collaborative approach and the ambition to contribute to the growth of an expanding consultancy.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous, although individuals with equivalent experience and a strong track record will also be considered.
